CONSCIOUS CONVERSATIONS WITH ISABELLE

“My motto is: do your best to live sustainably, it’s meant to be fun, it’s meant to be a journey- so don’t kill yourself trying to be perfect.”

1. When did your journey with sustainable fashion begin? Tell us about how/why you became so committed to sustainable fashion?

My journey began when I became plant based years ago. I then started researching how I could be more environmentally aware starting with my career as a fashion stylist, amongst other resources I watched The True Cost and read Lucy Seigle’s To Die For. After learning about how wasteful and exploitative the fashion industry is, it was like having an epiphany. I decided to act on this truth by working within the conscious fashion industry and committing to stop buying fast fashion.

2. How would you describe your style?

Jacquemus/ Old Celine meets the 90’s, but don't quote me on that.

3. Do you have a sustainable love story? What's your favourite find?

My favourite thing about my wardrobe is that nearly all my clothes have a back story. I have these patent PVC knee high Jimmy Choo boots that were chuck outs from a place I used to work, I always made sure to donate unwanted items but saved these for myself. The manufacturing of PVC is extremely toxic to the environment and garments workers, as well as being virtually impossible to biodegrade. So I stay clear from buying PVC new!

4. What are your top tips for someone trying to be more sustainable with fashion?

My motto is: do your best to live sustainably, it’s meant to be fun, it’s meant to be a journey- so don’t kill yourself trying to be perfect.
